Coffee and books go together like... Well, coffee and books. There is not a day you will not find me at my desk with a cup in hand or nearby while I do my job. Kind of like I am doing now, sipping coffee while I spill about those good times in the public library.
You know that awkward moment you just had with a patron? The look you get from your coworker as they walk toward the door and they are waiting to discuss what just went down. The moment the door closes, they wait a beat, and then you hear, "Are we not going to talk about what just happened." Ahhh sweet public libraries. There is nothing, and I do mean nothing, more fascinating to me than human personality. In a public library, you are able to see a plethora of individuals and their distinct characteristics. There are professors, doctors, realtors, teachers, construction workers, teenagers finding themselves, and of course children screaming their little heads off.
Public libraries offer a place for individuals to be.... well individuals. Come to us with your weird quirks, your intriguing accents, your even more intriguing outfits, and all of your questions. We may get tired, but not of the experiences we gain daily. We are here for you, to serve your bibliophile needs, and perhaps not-so-bibliophile needs such as where is the courthouse.
This blog will focus on things I have experienced in the library as well as my story of finding myself working in the public library. For now though, here are some links to more fun happenings in libraries.
